Well, here we are. I’m starting a food blog again.
If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember that I used to blog under a different name. Life happened, the blog went quiet, the domain eventually slipped away, and somewhere along the way I stopped doing something I really loved: cooking, creating, photographing food, and then sitting down to tell you all about it.
But lately, I’ve found myself wanting to do it again.
So I made this.
Welcome to So I Made This.
This is going to be a little different from my old blog. I don’t want this to be a place where I simply drop a recipe onto a page and send you on your way. I want to tell you the story behind the food.
Sometimes that story might be about a recipe I've been thinking about all week. Sometimes it might be about trying to make dinner after a ridiculously long day. Sometimes it'll be something I made because I had a few ingredients in the pantry and absolutely no idea what I was going to do with them.
And sometimes, I'm probably going to make something completely unnecessary simply because it sounds delicious.
There will be breakfasts, lunches, dinners, soups, sides, desserts, baked goods, easy weeknight meals, meal-prep ideas, and probably a fair amount of butter. Because life is too short for a food blog that takes itself too seriously.
And there will be stories.
I live in South Florida, where we have one season, humidity, and temperatures that have absolutely no interest in cooperating with my desire for seasonal change. But that doesn't mean I can't make a pot of soup, light a scented candle, put on a cozy playlist, and pretend I'm somewhere in North Carolina watching the leaves change.
Food has always had a way of doing that for me.
A recipe can take you somewhere.
It can remind you of a person, a place, a season, a holiday, or a version of yourself you haven't thought about in years.
That's what I want this little corner of the internet to be about.
Good food. Real life. The stories that happen around the table.
So whether you’re here because you want a recipe for dinner, you're looking for something sweet to bake on Sunday morning, or you just like following along with someone who occasionally looks at a pile of ingredients and thinks, “Well... let's see what happens.”
I'm glad you're here.
Pull up a chair.
Let's make something.
So I made this. And now I'm sharing it with you.
